Wirksworth is a small town, on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
It boasts several excellent pubs including The Hope & Anchor and Rising Sun (both of which are dog friendly eating pubs) and the Royal Oak which is a traditional country drinking pub which also welcomes your furry friends. Le Mistral is a fantastic french restaurant and the cafes located in the Heritage Centre and National Stone Centre are both excellent for a breakfast or lunch.
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is just a few minutes walk from the cottage, a great place for steam train enthusiasts. There is also the amazing and quirky Northern Lights Cinema which accommodates about 50 people per viewing.
You can be on the High Peak Trail in 5 minutes or walk through Stony Wood to reach the Stardisc (a 21st century stone circle and celestial amphitheatre created by Aidan Shingler).
The Co-op shop is within walking distance catering for all your essential needs. The town has a bus service and good road links to the surrounding areas.

The trails are excellent places to safely ride your bikes. If you aren't able to bring your bike with you there are several places to hire bikes including Middleton Top on the High Peak Trail which you can drive to in a few minutes.
